The ITV1 soap is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a special instalment, but producers have invested in non-alcoholic champagne to stop the nervous cast from getting drunk at the two fictional weddings planned for the landmark episode.
Matthew Wolfenden - who plays David Metcalfe - told The Sun newspaper: "I'm guest at Katie and Declan's wedding and there's going to be a marquee stocked with champagne.
"I'd love it to be real booze. But it won't be. In a live episode there's no way they are going to give us real booze until after - not a chance.
"But I'm looking forward to having a big drink with the rest of the cast when it's all over. Hopefully everyone will feel proud of what they've achieved on the night."
The episode is set to be one of the most dramatic in the Yorkshire Dales' history and will feature two births, two weddings and a shock death.
Sammy Winward - who plays pretty bride-to-be Katie Sugden - confessed nerves are running high ahead of the live episode tonight at 7pm.
She said: "I'm feeling a lot of nervous excitement now the countdown has begun because the wedding features so heavily.
"I'm amazed we are fitting so much into one hour of TV.
