Gary Barlow spoke for the first time about the loss of his stillborn baby daughter last night (13.10.12).
The 'X Factor' judge - who performed at the Olympics closing ceremony just eight days after he and wife Dawn were devastated by the loss of Poppy - opened up on the ITV1 talent show after contestant Lucy Spraggan, whose grandmother recently died, performed on the programme.
He told her: "I know how physically and emotionally draining loss can be. Sometimes the only answer is to get back out on stage."
Gary also announced he had forgiven fellow judge Louis Walsh after the pair clashed last week when the Irish panellist initially chose to save the Take That star's act Carolynne Poole, but he then changed his mind and put her and Rylan Clark into deadlock. The public then saved Rylan, which led to Gary storming off.
At the start of last night's show host Dermot O'Leary asked Gary if his and Louis' drama was over, and he replied: "Absolutely, listen it's a new day, Louis, shake hands."
Louis told him: "I couldn't make up my mind up. I was scared."
Following last weekend's incident, which also saw a producer come up to Louis and whisper something to him just before he made up his mind to take the voting to deadlock, Gary admits he felt like quitting the show.
He told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: "Straight away after what happened last week I thought I don't want to do this anymore.
"I just thought, 'This isn't the way I imagined it to be. After what I've just seen, the singer who did the worst has stayed'.
"I was even more upset than I appeared on the show. I was trying to hide it because I knew the cameras were on me.
"I couldn't stand the thought of them taking shots of my face while Carolynne was going through that. I couldn't bear it, so I walked off. I was angry with Louis and I blame him for what happened because he made her wait and wait and wait.
"He told her she was staying and then that she was going.
"Deadlock is a horrible thing for contestants anyway, so to string it out was just awful."
Last night's show saw Ella Henderson impress with her rendition of Minnie Riperton's classic 'Lovin' You' and Jahmene Douglas also wowed the judges with a confident performance of Amy Winehouse's 'Tears Dry On Their Own'. But Louis was less than impressed with Christopher Maloney's version of 'Heart's Alone', branding him "cheesy" and slamming Gary's "lazy" song choice.
He said: "You definitely gave it everything. Very cruise ship, very cabaret, very pub singer. It was a lazy song choice. It was a little bit cheesy for me."
'The X Factor' continues tonight (14.10.12) on ITV1 at 8pm.
