Fern Britton: Strictly is tough
Fern Britton has admitted that taking part in 'Strictly Come Dancing' is "tougher" than she ever imagined and she doesn't want to let "fantastic" partner Artem Chigvinstev down.
Fern Britton is finding 'Strictly Come Dancing' "tougher" than she ever imagined.
The TV star - who is partnered with Artem Chigvinstev - has admitted that even after appearing on the 2010 Christmas special and getting herself physically fit over the years, she is struggling with the co-ordination of the dances.
She said: "Doing 'Strictly' is way tougher than I ever imagined it would be. I am finding the counts hard and I am getting frustrated.
"My brain just cannot make any sense of it. I know Artem is getting frustrated too. I have tried writing the steps in a book but I still don't get it."
However Fern, 55, remains determined to impress even with her confidence "wobbling" as she doesn't want to let Artem down.
She explained to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "It does knock your confidence from time to time and there have already been nights when I have gone home and had a wobble.
"But you just have to pick yourself up again and go into the gym even more confident the next day.
"But bless Artem, he's such a fantastic teacher and he wants everything to be done correctly. I don't want to let Artem down in the live shows."
The bubble blonde is thrilled to finally be doing the show after having been too busy to commit when she was previously approached.
She said: "I have wanted to do 'Strictly Come Dancing' for such a long time, but charity commitments have always prevented me from doing so.
"Now I am doing the show, it's a sensational feeling. I have even started dreaming about 'Strictly'."
The live shows start tonight (05.10.12) on BBC One.
