Songs of Praise filming Christmas early
Songs of Praise is filming its Christmas and Easter specials in October and encouraging churchgoers to come attired for the festivities
Songs of Praise's Christmas and Easter specials are to be recorded this month.
Churchgoers to the festive edition of the show on October 24 at St Mark's Church in Maida Vale, London - which features Katherine Jenkins - have been asked to don Christmas clothes for the recording, and the venue will be specially dressed for the occasion.
A BBC spokesperson confirmed: "We're not faking it. The congregations know what they are there for. Obviously, we dress the church appropriately."
David Grant is hosting the Christmas special, and then on October 25 churchgoers are being asked to shed their clothes and wear bright colours for the Easter instalment, presented by Aled Jones.
On both Christmas Day and Easter Sunday, live worship will also be shown.
'BBC Breakfast' host Bill Turnbull was recently confirmed as the new host of the famous Sunday evening show, replacing Aled who has gone on to be the presenter of 'Daybreak'.
Bill said: "It will be great. Not to put Aled out of a job, to do the programme I mean. People ask, 'Are you religious?' I go to church and try to be a practising Christian. I remember singing along to Songs of Praise in my dressing gown when I was seven."
