No MTV performance for Winehouse
- 31 August 2007
The MTV Music Awards will not feature a performance from Amy Winehouse, who is nominated for three awards at the ceremony next month.
The singer’s US record label, Universal Republic Records, has confirmed speculation that Winehouse will not appear at the event, as concerns for her health grow. The Back to Black artist has pulled out of several gigs in recent weeks, including the V Festival, and has cancelled all US appearances, in what her label states is in “a continued effort to support Amy Winehouse’s well-being”.
Winehouse and her husband Blake Fielder-Civil are currently in the Caribbean on holiday.
Speaking to BBC Radio On, Mitch Winehouse said his daughter had sent a text saying ‘I’m as right as rain’.
He added: “It was great to hear from her and she seems to be doing OK.
“But then again, we’re not there so we don’t know what’s going on.”
