David Gest shows his snake to Kim Woodburn on Hotel GB
David Gest gave Kim Woodburn a fright on reality TV show 'Hotel GB' when he stayed the night with an eight-foot python and a bearded dragon lizard
David Gest caused chaos when he stayed at 'Hotel GB' by bringing a python and a lizard with him.
The television producer gave Kim Woodburn - who is a cleaner on the Channel 4 reality show - a shock when he asked her to take care of his pet eight-foot snake Anais.
The celebrity scrubber popped into Gest's bedroom and discovered the reptile resting on a pillow next to a photograph of her and Kim's face turned as white as her hair, when he lifted the creature up to meet her.
But after getting over her initial shock, Kim got on well with super-fan Anais and even autographed a picture for the snake which she licked with her forked tongue.
Gest said: "Baby Anais - which I pronounce ay-niss - loves Kim; she's her favourite star. When she met Kim she couldn't stop flicking her tongue out."
Kim, 70, did everything she could to make Anais' stay as comfortable as possible and even arranged for 500 thread count cotton sheets to be put on Gest's bed because the animal and her owner are both allergic to polyester.
But the python wasn't the only animal Gest brought with him.
The former 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!' star gave Mary Portas an unexpected lesson in hotel management, when Gest's bearded dragon lizard leapt onto her shoulder from his bag.
A source said: "It was hilarious. Mary was horrified. David adores his python and lizard, and didn't have a babysitter for them when he went into the hotel ... so he had to take them with him."
During his stay at 'Hotel GB', Gest dined with Three Degrees singer Sheila Ferguson and bought the soul legend a £1,000 gown from Hilary Devey's boutique - with all the money going to the Prince's Trust charity.
He also received a 30-minute neck massage from Katie Piper - who was the victim of an acid attack arranged by an ex-lover in 2008 - and Gest discussed with her how his friend Michael Jackson never fully recovered from the second degree burns he suffered to his scalp while filming a Pepsi advert in January 1984.
The legendary concert promoter also told Katie he "admired and respected" the unbelievable courage she had shown after suffering her facial injuries.
Outrageous Gest even serenaded her with a version of 'My Way' - which he has been rehearsing for his role in adult pantomime 'A Nightmare On Lime Street' which kicks off in November at the Royal Court theatre in Liverpool.
Gest was only one of three celebrities asked to stay overnight at 'Hotel GB' - which is staffed by a host of celebrities, including Gok Wan, and will give two unemployed people the chance to work with chef Gordon Ramsay and retail expert Mary after the series ends.
A source said: "He had a fantastic time and the staff were all great except for one young kid who didn't know how to use a credit card machine. He couldn't get it right and Gest was told his card would not be authorized so he had to get out his American Express Platinum card to pay."
Gest's appearance can be seen at 21:00 on Channel 4 tonight (02.10.12).
