'X Factor' finalists GMD3 are asking fans to send suggestions of new names for them as they worry they will be confused with former morning TV show 'GMTV'

'X Factor' finalists GMD3 are changing their name.

The trio - friends Greg West, Dan Ferrari-Lane and Mickey Parsons - and their mentor Louis Walsh have agreed they need a more memorable moniker as people confuse it with former ITV1 daytime show 'GMTV'.

Mickey said: "Fans keep thinking we are called 'GMTV'."

Greg added: "Even our mentor Louis can't remember it."

However, the group later admitted they are unable to keep the moniker anyway because it is registered to an American company.

They tweeted from the band's account: "Help us 3eeks!!! We have to change the name and we can't do it without your help!

"We have to change the name cause some pipeline company has ownership in US :( Help us 3eeks... we need you to help us! (sic)"

It seems fans are excited about getting the chance to rename the group as 'The X Factor's official twitter page reported the email account set up for submissions had crashed under the volume of responses.

They tweeted: "SO many suggestions our email inbox imploded. It's working again now, so send in your #GMD3namechange suggestions (sic)"

Fans can send their suggestions to xfactor@fremantlemediauk.com.
