MTV awards role for Snoop Dogg
- 31 August 2007
Snoop Dogg will take to the stage to host this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards ceremony.
Speaking to MTV about his upcoming presenting role in Germany, the US rapper promised a top show with typical fervour: “I’ve called up the homeys from East to West and I guarantee it’s going to be off the chain, you dig?”
Due to host the MTV Australia Music Awards earlier this year, Snoop Dogg ran into trouble when he was refused entry into the country. Officials cited drug and firearm charges as he was denied a visa.
Snoop meanwhile revealed his admiration for UK R&B singer Amy Winehouse, claiming she inspired the rapper’s new album.
The ceremony at Munich’s OlympiaHalle on November 1 will see the introduction of a new category New Sounds of Europe. The award will allow fans to nominate their ultimate breakthrough act from 19 EU countries.
Acts expected to appear at the awards include the Foo Fighters and Freddie Mercury-styled singer Mika. Nominations are expected to be announced at a later date.
