'EastEnders' keeps Jacqueline Jossa sober.

The brunette actress enjoys the occasional alcoholic tipple, but she won't overdo it as she doesn't want viewers drawing similarities between her and heavy-drinking alter ego Lauren Branning.

She said: "Playing Lauren has put me off drink. I still have the odd one now and again, but I don't like being smashed off my face because I think, 'Oh God, the way people look at Lauren, do they look at me like that?'

"That's bad. I'm not as bad as her."

Jacqueline admitted that fans often assume she is just like her character and stop her to discuss her drinking.

She explained: "The older viewers are hysterical, saying, 'Oh please, stop drinking, do it for me.'

"The younger viewers come up to me and they're like, 'Come on, let me buy you a drink.'"

The 19-year-old beauty does enjoy playing the troubled teenager though, because she can be "ridiculous".

She added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Its fun, I can do ridiculous things and get away with it.

"I go along with anything. I've got a funny twitch, that's cool, Lauren has that when she's drinking."
