Greg Davies finds it "ridiculous" to have Helen Baxendale as his on-screen wife.

The 'Inbetweeners' star admits even his friends have poked fun at the fact he gets to be so close to the 'Cold Feet' beauty in their new sitcom 'Cuckoo'.

He said: "I didn't watch a load of 'Cold Feet' but I did see her in 'Friends' and find it utterly surreal to be acting next to her.

"To be married to her is ridiculous. So many of my friends have pointed out, 'Like that would happen in real life.'

"When I've mentioned my screen wife is Helen Baxendale, so many people have burst out laughing. My self-esteem has been crushed by it."

However, the 44-year-old actor - who didn't embark on a showbiz career until he was 33 - is thankful to work with Helen as she makes filming even potentially-awkward scenes easy.

He added in an interview with the Daily Mirror newspaper: "There are a couple of bedroom scenes and I had to kiss Helen. I have to admit I was absolutely dreading it but she put me at ease.

"The sex scene was really such good fun. I have read so many interviews with actors and actresses saying how embarrassing and awkward it is with 20 people standing around you.

"But the truth is, this is a comedy, it ultimately ends in silliness.

"There was one day of filming where I spent all day in bed with Helen and didn't stop laughing. It was brilliant."
