Holly Willoughby's Surprise excitement
Holly Willoughby "can't wait" to start work on 'Surprise, Surprise' - but won't be singing the iconic theme tune.
Holly Willoughby "can't wait" to start work on 'Surprise, Surprise'.
The 'This Morning' host is to front a revamped version of the popular programme - which was presented by Cilla Black and saw members of the public stunned with the fulfillment of long-held wishes, reunited with lost loved ones and subjected to prank phone calls and practical jokes - and wants all her fans to be part of the show.
She tweeted: "Can't wait to film Surpise, Surprise! Why not come along? Get your free @tvaudience tickets (sic)"
However, Holly doesn't seem very keen to follow in Cilla's footsteps and perform the iconic theme tune for the show.
She added: "@Russeller147: @hollywills Are you gonna sing like 'our Cilla' used to do at the end of the show?!" Maybe just for the audience! X (sic)"
It was announced in February that 'Surprise, Surprise' - which ran from 1984 to 1997 and then saw four special episodes until 2001 - would return to ITV1.
A source said at the time: "'Surprise, Surprise' was a big hit when it aired in the eighties and nineties and viewers remember it fondly. We'll be updating the show and giving it a modern twist but the essence will still be the same.
"Some of the best episodes were when we reunited family members who hadn't seen each other for decades so we'll hopefully be doing that again."
