Cheryl Cole's niece is furious after her 'X Factor' audition was cut from the show.
Melissa Armstrong impressed judges at the Newcastle trials earlier this year and was expected to feature on the programme but the 21-year-old hopeful was disappointed when the audition rounds ended on Sunday's (16.09.12) show without her performance being screened.
Melissa - who impressed Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger but didn't make it through to the next round as she was rejected by Gary Barlow and Tulisa Contostavlos - said: "I have no idea what's going but it doesn't look like I am going to appear."
Melissa claims producers gave her the impression that her rendition of Cheryl's 'Promise This' would definitely be shown and her friends and family believe there is another reason for her omission from the show.
Shortly before the final audition programmes, it was announced Cheryl would be returning to the contest to help Gary Barlow select his finalists at Judges' Houses.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Everybody is angry that Melissa's audition has been scrapped. We can't believe it. She gave a really good performance and believed she would be featured in the audition shows.
"But after it was announced Cheryl was making her surprise comeback, it all went quiet, I wonder why that is?
"If anything, Melissa is a better singer than Cheryl. It's so unfair."
