Famous Five poised for middle-aged adventure
Julian, Dick, Anne, George and Timmy the dog - otherwise known as the Famous Five - are on course for a new adventure in a TV drama for adults, some 30 years after their previous incarnation.
The series, based on Enid Blyton’s literary creation, is being developed by the author’s rights holder Chorion and production company Twofour. The series will see the gang - now in their forties - team up to solve mysteries in a version aimed at original fans.
A Famous Five animated TV series produced by Disney is also in the pipeline, due for broadcast in spring next year.
Chorion director of TV and film, Phil Clymer said: “The Famous Five obviously have an appeal that crosses generations.
“We thought, in addition to the new dynamic animated TV approach for the core audience of kids, that it would be a fascinating exercise to look at what might happen to the characters when they arrive at middle-age.”
