The 33-year-old plays Brendan Brady on the Channel 4 soap, and he reveals he is never shy about putting forward his ideas to script writers, who are keen to have the show be the best "it can be".
He said: "The writers' room is always open so if you have any questions or if I wanted to pitch a certain idea there are no egos, there's nothing except a united want to make this the best that it can be, and that's what I absolutely love about 'Hollyoaks'."
Emmett has been in the show for two years, and reveals his storyline with lover Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) i , not over yet - despite Ste moving on to another man.
He told WhatsOnTV.com: "Stephen is Brendan's one true love ... If Brendan really loved him he would let him go and pine from afar.
"His punishment for all the wrong that he did ... He messed it up every time. I don't think he'll ever let go of Stephen and I don't think it's the end of Stendan either."
