Tulisa Contostavlos defends X Factor ratings
Tulisa Contostavlos does not think it matters that 'X Factor' ratings have dropped because it is still "the biggest show" on TV
Tulisa Contostavlos has defended 'The X Factor' after ratings dropped to a record low this year.
The 23-year-old judge -who won with her act Little Mix last year - does not care that viewing figures have fallen because it is still the "most watched show" on TV.
She said: "Regardless of how much the figures go up and down it's still the biggest, most watched show on television".
For the 'X Factor's' first Sunday broadcast this year, the ITV show averaged 7.9 million viewers. The same show in 2011 averaged 10.3 million.
ITV's flagship show has also come under fire for its new format in which more airtime is used to focus on the background story of the performers.
Pop star Sinitta recently claimed Geri Halliwell should join the panel of the show full-time after her stint as a guest judge because she's "insane".
She said: "I love Geri. I think she's absolutely insane but now that we don't have Simon, we need someone to take the crazy role."
