David Walliams is being lined up as the new face of Saturday nights on BBC One.
The 'Little Britain' funnyman is wanted by boss Danny Cohen, who thinks he will be a huge hit with viewers following his successful stint as a judge on ITV talent show 'Britain's Got Talent' earlier this year.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "David is someone we're very interested in for Saturday nights.
"He has the kind of warmth that will connect well with BBC One audiences. It's early days but we're hopeful of sorting something."
It was recently revealed David - who is wanted by Simon Cowell to take part in 'Britain's Got Talent' again next year - is to host a new primetime BBC programme.
The comedian will front panel show 'I Love My Country', with comics Greg Davies and Frank Skinner as team captains.
A pilot episode of the programme - in which celebrity teams have to prove they know Britain best - was filmed earlier this year and was a hit with the studio audience.
One audience member said: "It was very funny. Frank just kept winding David up all the way through that he wasn't doing his job right.
"But David took it in the right way and gave as good as he got. The chemistry between the three was great."
