Muslim Liv8 for Darfur
- 28 August 2007
Wembley is to be the venue for a Muslim Liv8 concert in a bid to highlight the humanitarian crisis in Darfur. Islamic Relief and Muslim Aid are organising the concert in the hope that the high profile event will both raise both funds and awareness of the genocide in the region.
Jehangir Malik of Islamic Relief told a press conference at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London: ‘We are doing our own equivalent of Live8. We are going for a concert at the end of Ramadan to celebrate Eid. It will be people trying to raise funds and raise the profile.’
The concert is set to be headlined by British singer-songwriter Sami Yusuf, who has sold more than two million albums.
