Andrea McLean thinks she was a "strange choice" to host 'Loose Women'.

The former weather girl - who initially began work on the show covering for Jackie Brambles, before going full time in summer 2008 - admits she was not a natural choice and spent her first year in the job in a state of fear.

She said: "Even I thought I was a strange choice. I think it's because I was in the same building so they didn't have to pay for transport. I spent the first year being really scared. I felt like Sandy joining the Pink Ladies in 'Grease'.

"There was Rizzo and Frenchie and then Sandy turned up. Now I'm the girl in the stretch pants."

Despite her initially trepidation, Andrea is now a lot more confident about her role on the panel and has learnt a lot.

She added to Heat magazine: "I'm much more fun than I used to be. I'm a lot cheekier and a lot more relaxed than I used to be."
