The actress made a surprise appearance on the opening show for the new series on BBC1 which aired on Saturday (01.09.12).
During her scenes with the Time Lord it was discovered that Jenna needed a step up in order for the close-ups.
A source from the show said: "It's funny that Jenna will be travelling around the galaxy in a phone box and now has to use phone books to stand on to look taller."
Measuring in at 5ft 2in the 26 year-old ex-'Emmerdale' star - who is replacing Karen Gillan as the Doctor's assistant in the show - is almost a foot smaller than Matt Smith.
