Denise Welch was relieved when she found out her estranged husband had been cheating on her.
The 'Loose Women' star admits that instead of feeling angry that her spouse of over 20 years Tim Healy had another, she was pleased as it meant she could be with her lover, Lincoln Townley.
Recalling the time she discovered messages from on Tim's phone, she said: "I waited for the information to hit me, for a surge of jealousy to sweep over me, but there was nothing. If anything, I found it quite amusing.
"Around this time, my relationship with Lincoln Townley became physical. It was a now-and-again connection; just fun. We seemed to find the same things funny and I didn't have any inhibitions around him, which was very liberating. I really liked the fact I didn't have to turn any tricks or show off.
"I didn't think I was going to leave Tim for Lincoln, but in the days and weeks after I discovered the 'Bill golf' texts, I started to re-evaluate. I was seeing someone and Tim was seeing someone; it was no longer a case of a discreet one-night stand occasionally. Was there really any point in staying together?"
Denise - who has two sons, Matthew and Louis, with Tim - insists their split was amicable and they all try to get on with each for the sake of their children.
Writing in her new autobiography, 'Starting Over', which is being serialised in the Daily Mirror newspaper, she said: "Tim has never said anything negative about Lincoln, and I sense that his only criteria for the person I'm with is that they are good to me and good to our children, which mirrors my criteria for the person he's with. Certainly, we have no desire to swan off into the sunset as a foursome. I said to Tim that we wouldn't be going on holiday together or anything. 'Well, not until next year, anyway!' "
