The actor will play banker Danny Pennant - who turns out to be gay - and he is intent on destroying Christian and Syed's relationship which is set to be rocked by a fidelity crisis, threatening to split the pair up.
A source said: "It seems Danny is going to do his level best to cause big trouble between Syed and Christian.
"They're planning their wedding - but he's planning their break-up! It'll be interesting to see which of them Danny is trying to get his claws into."
There are plans for dramatic wedding scenes when the couple tie the knot later this year - after finally convincing Syed's parents Zainab and Masood to give them their blessing - but the romantic occasion could be ruined by the newcomer.
The soap's boss - Lorraine Newman - recently spoke about plans to create a dramatic love triangle and she is hoping the scenes will keep viewers gripped.
The source told Inside Soap magazine: "Prepare for a typical Walford wedding - full of twists, turns and huge drama! There will be one hell of an uproar if Syed or Christian cheats on their other half..."
