Mel B has been offered a permanent 'X Factor' judge role for 2013.
The former Spice Girl - who stood in as the fourth judge on the launch episode of the show which aired on Saturday (18.08.12) - was the ITV1 bosses' first choice after impressing with her brutally honest put-downs and they are determined to secure her for next year's show.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Mel was our first choice. She was so quick and honest. You can't let everyone down gently or the praise is meaningless.
"There's a lot of money on the table for her next year."
The 'Wannabe' hitmaker was allegedly the first choice to join Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh on the panel, but her commitments to 'The X Factor' Australia meant the gig went to Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger instead.
Mel divided opinions with her harsh comments, but many viewers felt she was the voice of reason and could be the new Simon Cowell.
The straight-talking singer will have competition in the form of original judge Sharon Osbourne, however, since the showbiz matriarch recently lobbied her fans about making a grand return to the show.
She announced on twitter: "Tell Simon [Cowell] to take me back for season 10. #XFactor"
