Bradley Wiggins has hit out at claims that he will appear on 'X Factor.'
The Olympic gold medallist and Tour De France champion has said that he will never appear on the talent show after it emerged that several sporting stars - including Mo Farah - are being lined up to take part in the show.
He said: "Let's not talk about the 'X Factor'. Compared to the Olympics everywhere you went the country was on a high, and as athletes it was phenomenal to see that.
"Then you see the 'X Factor' and it's like, 'Oh God, everyone's got to put up with that all winter now.' "
He is not the only sporting star to hit out at the claims and cyclist Sir Chris Hoy took to Twitter with the hashtag 'dontbelievethehype' to say: "Some amusing stories in press about me being a mentor on 'X Factor'. That's the first I've heard about it. (sic)"
Simon Cowell is reportedly keen to sign up some of the champions from this summer's games to act as mentors to the contestants and he wants the first live show to have an Olympic theme.
One athlete who is very keen to join the show is heptathlon gold medallist Jessica Ennis.
Speaking on ITV1's 'Lorraine' she said: "I think it's a great idea. I'm a massive fan of 'X Factor'.
"Before the Olympics I was just training so hard and making sure that I didn't miss anything, so I had to turn a lot of things down and say no to things that I would love to have done at the time.
"Now that I've got this medal I can just relax and enjoy myself a bit."
