Noisettes are "gallop on horseback" through genres on their new album, 'Contact'
Noisettes "gallop on horseback" through genres on their new album.
The 'Never Forget You' group gave fans a preview of their third record, 'Contact', at BT London Live in Hyde Park yesterday (05.08.12), performing new tracks 'Winner' and 'That Girl', and said putting new songs in their set helps them stay fresh.
Speaking after the band's performance on the BT Vision Stage at BT London Live, singer Shingai Shoniwa told BANG Showbiz: "We gallop on horseback through genres, styles and time signatures, and that makes us feel fresh and excited as musicians and gives the music more shelf life.
"It feels brand new, it makes our set feel fresher, the new songs give us more strings to our bow. it gives us different dynamics, its like having new members of the family."
Shingai took to the stage - alongside guitarist Dan Smith and five backing musicians - in a jacket shaped like a heart at the front and a broken heart at the back, which she designed as a visual representation of the band's message.
She added: "I just liked the idea of having a broken-hearted jacket, so I made one. It's more inspiring than just getting up there in jeans and a T-shirt, and it complements the music, the artistic process. We've always had a lot of heart themes in our artwork and this goes hand-in-hand with it."
Also performing at the event - which screens the Olympics throughout the games - was Tinchy Stryder, who was proud to take to the stage just after tennis player Andy Murray had won a gold medal against Roger Federer.
He said: "It's a wicked feeling, having a big, big, big event like the Olympics in East London, near where I grew up, its amazing. And I'm a big fan of Andy Murray and he just won gold before I went on, so I was completely pumped because of that."
Noisettes will release 'Contact' on August 27. To see which other acts are performing at BT London Live and to see what else is on offer head to http://www.btlondonlive.com/
