Chris Fountain says he's no heartthrob

Chris Fountain says he's no heartthrob.

The 'Coronation Street' actor - who plays Michelle Keegan's on-screen boyfriend Tommy Duckworth - was nominated for Sexiest Male at this year's Soap Awards, but thinks he didn't deserve his place on the short-list and says he never gets saucy fan mail.

Chris told soaplife magazine: "I don't see myself in that way. I never get any raunchy fan mail from women either.

"I'm glad too, because if I did id feel pretty embarrassed about it."

The 24-year-old former 'Dancing On Ice' star is just as popular with his cast mates as he is with the viewers of the ITV1 soap, and he revealed he has a close-knit group of friends on set.

Chris said: "I knew a few of the 'Corrie' people before I joined. Ryan Thomas [Jason] was a good friend and I went to school with Jack Shepherd [David].

"I hang out with them, Michelle Keegan and Alan Halsall [Tyrone]. We're all good mates."

The actor started out on 'Hollyoaks' in 2003 and made his first appearance on Weatherfield's cobbles in March 2011, but Chris is adamant he won't be leaving the soap world behind him just yet.

He explained: "This has been my training. I want to go on and do films at some point and I know I'll be able to walk on a set and not have any problems thanks to all I've learned from soaps.

"But I don't have any plans to leave 'Corrie' at the moment."
