Ben Forster's Superstar movie moment
'Superstar' winner Ben Forster says that winning the show was like a moment from a movie
Ben Forster felt that winning 'Superstar' was like a moment from a movie.
The 31-year-old was shocked when he won the ITV programme on Wednesday night (25.07.12) - which followed Andrew Lloyd Webber's search to find a rising star to play the lead role in a new production of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' - and he admits he found the whole experience surreal.
He told The Sun newspaper: "Winning the show was like a movie moment. Things like that happen in movies, and you think, 'Life doesn't really work like that.'
"But I stood on that stage with everyone on their feet clapping, singing, confetti falling, in front of millions of people on the TV.
"I just feel so lucky to have had that moment. It's something I'll always look back on and be really f***ing proud of."
The singer won over the judges and the audience with his performance of Queen hit 'Who Wants To Live Forever' and he will now appear on the 'Jesus Christ Superstar' arena tour from September.
He admits that the victory felt even better because he had suffered knock backs in the past, including being axed from the 'X Factor' boot camp in 2009.
He said: "'X Factor' was a big part of my life for a few months and it would have been a great opportunity if it happened - but it didn't.
"It is disappointing, but you move on. I'm really happy now because it feels like I'm finally on the right path. That's something you dream about when you're playing guitar in a pub in Sunderland and no one even looks up from their glass."
