Jessie J an inspiration to young Brits
Welsh singer-songwriter Jay James Picton thinks Jessie J is an inspiration to British artists
Jessie J is an inspiration to British artists, according to Jay James Picton.
The Welsh soul singer - dubbed the male Amy Winehouse - was impressed by the 'Price Tag' singer's talent and integrity when he supported her on tour earlier this year.
He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "She's amazing. I'm very rarely complementary towards certain artists, but Jessie is certainly an artist to be proud of with what the UK brings out.
"Everything that she does is 1000 per cent who she is. When you see her on stage, she is herself. She's a real inspiration."
'You're The Sea' singer Jay discovered his musical talent after singing in public as a drunken bet with a friend five years ago and is now an up and coming talent.
He was thrilled when Jessie said she was a fan and gave him the opportunity to share his heartfelt songs with the public.
He added: "I was just incredibly excited. Even though I've been in music for such a short time. It's now really incredible to sing out loud and revisit the place I was in when I wrote the songs.
"It's incredible to share and connect with that many people.
Jay has worked with music legends like Booker T. Jones and John Legend on his first album 'Play It By Heart', and hopes that a collaboration or a duet with Jessie could be on the cards in the future.
He said: "It didn't happen on that occasion, but I'm supporting her a few more times, so..."
Jay's album is out now. A free download is available at http://www.jayjamespicton.com/
