Noel Edmonds pulls out of Saturday night TV return
Noel Edmonds has pulled out of a return to Saturday night TV as host of new BBC show 'The Bodyguard'
Noel Edmonds has pulled out of a return to Saturday night TV.
The 'Deal or no Deal' host had already filmed a pilot of new BBC show 'The Bodyguard' when he reportedly decided it wasn't exciting enough as a show and pulled out.
Bosses now face finding another big name host to front the show, in which members of the public become bodyguards for celebrities and have to undertake a series of whacky challenges.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: "The BBC and producers Endemol were really keen for Noel to do the show.
"But he filmed the pilot on the basis that he would only do a full series if he thought it was amazing, different and exciting - and he didn't feel that."
Noel last held a prime time Saturday night TV slot with 'Noel's House Party', which was axed in 1999. He is still hosting 'Deal or no Deal', which airs on Channel 4 on Mondays to Fridays.
The source added: "To take on another big show it would need to really blow him away.
"Endemol were disappointed by his decision, but understand his feelings - it is all amicable.
"Noel thinks 'The Bodyguard' will be a success, but just with somebody else at the helm."
A BBC spokesperson said the pilot episode is being edited and reviewed and a decision on the show's future will be made later this year.
