will.i.am wanted to record The Script's new single 'Hall of Fame' for his own album
will.i.am wanted The Script's 'Hall of Fame' for his own album.
The Black Eyed Peas main man was so impressed with the Irish band's song he asked if he could record a version, but they wanted to keep it for themselves, so asked him to guest on theirs.
Singer Danny O'Donoghue, 31, told UK radio station Capital FM: "He heard it and I think he loved the song, and he was like: 'I need this for my album, please can I have this for my album?'
"I was like: 'Look, no,' so it was the obvious thing to say: 'Listen... just jump on the track with us.'"
Danny - who is joined in the group by Mark Sheehan and Glen Power - has long been a fan of Black Eyed Peas, even before they changed their sound from hip-hop to pop and achieved international fame with 2003 single 'Where is the Love'.
He added: "I grew up listening to all of [Will.i.am's] stuff, you know, 'Request + Line' back in the old days when Fergie wasn't in the band, so to finally have this come full circle and to actually be working with a hero of mine as well, it was really strange."
'Hall of Fame' by The Script featuring Will.i.am will go on sale on August 19.
