June Brown is releasing a single.
The 85-year-old actress - who has played iconic 'EastEnders' character Dot Cotton since the soap began in 1985 - has laid down vocals on the track 'Soho Heroes' by her godson Tim Arnold, and it will be released on Monday (23.07.12).
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "June and Time are great friends. She loves his music and Tim is delighted about her agreeing to take part."
The track is said to be a cross between Blur and the Divine Comedy.
June - who previously left 'EastEnders' for a number of years in the mid-90s - is currently in the middle of a six month break from the BBC soap and is believed to be spending some time writing her memoirs.
A soap insider said: "Some friends on the set feared she may be considering a permanent exit but 'EastEnders' bosses are determined to keep her and they have offered her six months off which she has taken.
"She has admitted the filming can be exhausting and she feels some time off is long overdue."
