60 acts cut from X Factor Boot Camp

Sixty 'X Factor' acts were chopped from the Boot Camp stages of the show yesterday (17.07.12).
Around 200 hopefuls travelled to Liverpool for the second stage of the show, but many were left upset when they were told they were being sent home before they had even sung a note.
A show source said all hopefuls were summoned before the judges at the city's Echo Arena and only told there would be a big announcement.
A show source told The Sun newspaper: "It was carnage. They were told there would be an important announcement. They went out on stage to face Tulisa, Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow and Nicole Scherzinger- and then the bombshell. There were looks of shock on people's faces. Even the judges looked upset."
The cull was said to have been ordered by show boss Simon Cowell as he wants to ensure only the very best talent makes it through to the final stages of the show this year.
The source added: "Some of the contestants who got a Yes at their first auditions, when seen side by side against the others, were not of a good enough standard."
The acts will be whittled down to 24 over the next two days at the Boot Camp, and will then proceed to the Judges' Houses stage of the show.
