Bleakley excited about Dancing On Ice Goes Gold
Christine Bleakley was impressed with the talented contestants on 'Dancing On Ice Goes Gold'.
Christine Bleakley found filming 'Dancing On Ice Goes Gold' "really exciting".
The skating contest returns for a one-off special in honour of the Olympic Games on Sunday (22.07.12) featuring sporting legends and the 33-year-old presenter was impressed by all the contestants.
She said: "They were all really good and they went into this programme wanting to do well. Both Jayne Torvill and I said that if they were on the series, they would do brilliantly.
"It was a great show to film. I love the Olympics, so to meet the contestants was really exciting.
"I loved meeting Olga Korbut. I love gymnastics and her life story is extraordinary. To meet her in the flesh was really special as she is such a legend. Phillip [Schofield] felt the same."
Christine also revealed one of the highlights of the show is a performance from head judge Robin Cousins, a gold medal-winning solo skater.
She added to new! magazine: "Robin Cousins also did a solo performance for us on the ice. It's the first time he's skated in front of people on his own in 12 years. It was a really brave thing for him to do and I couldn't believe how brilliant he was."
Christine loves working with Phillip Schofield on the show and can't wait to get to work on the new series.
She said: "I think Phillip is a great guy and I really do like working with him. He's been absolutely brilliant from start to finish. [Christine's predecessor] Holly Willoughby and I are good friends so before I started on Dancing On Ice, I knew everything I needed to know. When you do live TV, you're very reliant on each other.
"It really did click with Phillip. I've already had a few emails about the new series and which celebrities the production team are thinking of approaching. It's mad we're even talking about it when it's only July!"
