David Walliams is to host a new primetime BBC programme.

The 'Britain's Got Talent' judge will host panel show 'I Love My Country', with comics Greg Davies and Frank Skinner as team captains.

A pilot episode of the programme - in which celebrity teams have to prove they know Britain best - was filmed earlier this week and was a hit with the studio audience.

One audience member told The Sun newspaper: "It was very funny. Frank just kept winding David up all the way through that he wasn't doing his job right.

"But David took it in the right way and gave as good as he got. The chemistry between the three was great."

The show is the second new project for Greg - who is best known for playing teacher Mr. Gilbert in 'The Inbetweeners' - after it was revealed he is to get a new channel 4 sitcom, 'Man Down'.

He will play the role of another teacher, Dan, who hates his job.

Nerys Evans, Channel 4's comedy commissioning editor, said: "Greg is in more ways than one a giant of British comedy. He has managed to write a joyfully funny, laugh-out-loud script. We're thrilled to be working with him on his first solo piece."
