Michelle Keegan snubs Strictly for Corrie contract
'Coronation Street' actress Michelle Keegan will not be appearing on the next series of the BBC's 'Strictly Come Dancing' after ITV bosses promised to renew her contract
Michelle Keegan has been stopped from appearing on 'Strictly Come Dancing' by ITV bosses.
The 'Coronation Street' star was being lined up for the next series of the BBC show - which goes head-to-head with ITV's 'X Factor' every year - but the 25-year-old actress will instead re-sign her deal with the soap.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "We don't let our stars just sidestep away from their commitments here on the cobbles to go on 'Strictly', especially someone like Michelle who wee value so highly.
"She is going no where and her current deal, which runs out towards the end of the year, will be renewed soon."
However, a BBC source has confirmed Michelle is just one of a number of names - rumoured to include Westlife's Nicky Byrne and TV presenter Fern Britton - who are being lined up for the series.
The insider added: "Michelle was one of a number of big names we were looking at. This year we only want huge stars."
Other unusual names reportedly being consider by BBC bosses include 'Big Fat Gypsy Weddings' star Paddy Doherty and model-turned-bodybuilder Jodie Marsh.
