'Birds of a Feather' star Lesley Joseph says the sitcom could be set for a return to TV
'Birds of a Feather' is to return to TV.
The sitcom - which ran on BBC1 from 1989 to 1998 - is set to make a comeback following a theatre tour based on the show which featured original stars Pauline Quirke, Linda Robson and Lesley Joseph, and Lesley - who played man-eater neighbour Dorien Green - says all three would be keen to return to the programme.
She said: "They are in talks to bring back the television show, with the three of us, as it wouldn't work with anybody else and I'd absolutely love to do it.
"Pauline, Linda and I have loved the stage show. It's a very unique bond that we have and it has been simply glorious to be a part of, it really has. We've had a fantastic time.
"We have packed out every night on the road and most evenings we've been getting a standing ovation. It's like we've never been away."
The show was based around the lives of sisters Sharon Theodopolopodos (Pauline) and Tracey Stubbs (Linda), whose husbands Chris and Darryl were jailed for a robbery.
However, Lesley doesn't think the male characters would return because she thinks they wouldn't "be relevant".
She added to the Sunday Mirror newspaper: "I don't know that the husbands would be relevant any more.
"They're there in the background but I don't think they would come back for the show. It was always the girls that the audience have loved."
