'Hollyoaks' nurse Lynsey Nolan is murdered in tonight's (29.06.12) episode.
The brunette beauty's body is found by her pal Brendan Brady (Emmett Scanlan) in a dramatic cliffhanger to the episode - which was screened in E4's first look last night (28.06.12) - that sparks a huge whodunnit storyline.
Bosses had gone to great lengths to keep the shock plot twist under wraps, with actress Karen Hassan not even having her leaving party until last night (28.06.12), weeks after she filmed her final scenes as Lynsey.
A show insider told The Sun newspaper: "This has got to be soap's best kept secret. No one even knew Karen was leaving. It will lead to a big whodunnit plot."
There will be many suspects in the frame for Lynsey's murder.
Her friend Mercedes Fisher (Jennifer Metcalfe) has grown increasingly deranged - even stabbing herself to frame her love rival, glamour model Mitzeee Minniver - and could have wanted to keep Lynsey quiet after she discovered the truth about her pal's stalking of the pin-up.
Ally Gorman (Dan O'Connor) and bad boy newcomer Walker (Neil Newbon) have both been struggling to keep secrets from Irish nurse Lynsey, while she may also have been caught in the row between Brendan and his enemy Samson, who has sworn to get even with the club owner.
However, it was recently revealed that murderer Silas Blissett (Jeff Rawle) is to return to Hollyoaks Village after he was deemed unfit to stand trial.
With Lynsey being his biggest enemy, who he tried to kill on several occasions, when she set out to prove he was the sinister murderer, he is likely to be the main name in the frame for the killing.
