Red Hot Chili Peppers wowed an 80,000-strong UK crowd with a greatest hits set on Saturday night (23.06.12).
The 'Under the Bridge' hitmakers stunned revellers at Knebworth Park, Hertfordshire - the group's first of only two UK gigs this year - as they kicked off with new song 'Monarchy of Roses' before launching into more recognisable classics 'Around the World' and 'Dani California'.
The American rockers - who are made up of vocalist Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea, guitarist Josh Klinghoffer and drummer Chad Smith - oozed onstage chemistry as they got the crowd singing to 2000 hit 'Otherside', despite heavy rain.
The frontman didn't talk to the crowd much, allowing Flea to provide comic interludes in between songs, as Anthony saved his vocal chords for energetic renditions of 'Can't Stop' and 'Soul to Squeeze' before covering Stevie Wonder's 'Higher Ground'.
Complete with an impressive lighting display, the Chili Peppers finished their set with 'Factory of Faith' - from their most recent album 'I'm With You' - sandwiched between hit singles 'Californication' and 'By the Way'. the band's encore included 'Suck My Kiss' and 'Give It Away'.
Earlier in the day, rapper Dizzee Rascal ensured spirits were high as he warmed them up with tracks including 'Bonkers', 'Dance Wiv Me' and 'Holiday'.
Shortly beforehand, The Wombats and Reverend and the Makers got the party started with their respective hits 'Let's Dance to Joy Division' and 'Heavyweight Champion of the World'.
