Nicole Scherzinger gets booed at X Factor auditions
Nicole Scherzinger was booed by the audience on her first day as an 'X Factor' judge after she clashed with Gary Barlow over a contestant.
Nicole Scherzinger was booed on her first day as an 'X Factor' judge.
The 'Poison' singer - who was confirmed as the fourth judge on the pop star search show last week - was booed by the live audience at the Newcastle upon Tyne auditions yesterday (19.06.12) after she clashed with head judge Gary Barlow.
The 5,000 strong audience jeered the former Pussycat Dolls singer after she branded 17-year-old hopeful Dale Howard's performance "shaky".
Gary insisted that Dale was "brilliant", but Nicole accused the contestant of blaming his poor vocals on laryngitis.
The 33-year-old beauty had got off to a difficult start as she tripped as she entered the Metro Radio Arena. She joked: "You guys didn't see that trip, did you?
"It is my first day, show me some love."
Nicole - who was axed from the US version of 'X Factor' after just one series - signed a reputed £750,000 deal with Simon Cowell to join Gary, Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh on the panel after first appearing as a guest judge in 2010.
Take That judge Gary, 41, was full of praise for Nicole after it was announced she beat off competition from the likes of Geri Halliwell, Mel B and Anastacia to secure the coveted role.
He said: "I'm made up. I thought all the guest judges were excellent but she had the edge.
"She's exciting, has years of experience and was great on the US 'X Factor'."
