'The Million Pound Drop Live' will air eight special London 2012 episodes.

The Channel 4 game show, hosted by Davina McCall, is planning a 'Celebrity Games' special this summer featuring athletes from the Olympics and the Paralympics, as well as famous sports personalities.

David Flynn, the programme's creator, said: "In this summer of sport, celebrities will face the ultimate challenge as they try to break records and make lots of money against the toughest competitor of all - 'The Million Pound Drop'."

The BAFTA-winning quiz show has attracted celebrities such as Alan Carr, Chris O'Dowd and Jack Whitehall since it began in 2010.

Davina, 44, joins 12 other celebrity Team GB ambassadors including Katherine Jenkins and Bear Grylls whose mission is to promote London 2012 in the run-up to the opening ceremony on July 27.

Explaining how she was going to help the UK team, ex 'Big Brother' presenter Davina joked: "I'm going to be waving my scarf frantically, going to as many events as they'll let me and tweeting obsessively."
