Mel B wanted for permanent X Factor role
Simon Cowell wants Mel B to become a permanent 'X Factor' judge but is worried she might not be able to sign up as she already has commitments with the Australian version.
Simon Cowell wants Mel B to become a permanent 'X Factor' judge.
The former Spice Girls singer was recently a guest panellist alongside regular judges Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh and Tulisa Contostavlos during the auditions stages of the ITV1 show and now boss Simon is keen to get her to sign up full time.
However, Mel is already signed up to the Australian version so getting her on board may prove difficult and Simon might have to opt for Nicole Scherzinger, who was a guest judge two year ago.
A source said: "Simon would love to offer the gig to Mel but there are contractual issues with her role on the Australian 'X Factor'. If Mel can't get out of her Oz duties, Nicole Scherzinger will be offered the full time role."
Bosses have been looking for a fourth judge ever since it was revealed Kelly Rowland would not be returning.
Simon initially offered former judge Dannii Minogue - who has previously mentored two winning acts - the chance to return but she turned it down.
Mel's former Spice Girls bandmate Geri Halliwell has stood in as a judge during the auditions as has Rita Ora and Anastacia, who is also thought to be a front runner for the job on a full-time basis.
