Natalie Anderson's big Emmerdale exit
Natalie Anderson has promised her exit from 'Emmerdale' as feisty Alicia Gallagher will be a "cliffhanger"
Natalie Anderson has promised her character's exit from 'Emmerdale' will be a "cliffhanger".
The actress - who is currently pregnant with her first child - is now on maternity leave so her alter-ego Alicia Gallagher will only be on screens for the next few weeks and Natalie was thrilled with how she left the ITV1 soap, as her character ends up in prison.
She said: "The way that they leave it is very much on a cliffhanger. When I read it, I was like, 'No! Oh my God!' So hopefully the audience will be willing her to come back!"
Natalie - who is expecting a baby boy - is pleased the exit allows her to return to the show once the baby is born.
She told 'This Morning': "I definitely can come back and I definitely hope to be back by the end of the year. But it was a huge surprise for me. I genuinely thought I would have just been going off to see my sister, wherever she is.
"And then this huge storyline came about with a previous conviction, the fact that she's falling in love with David as well, and Justin coming back to try and take Jacob. It was just so elaborate, I was like, 'Thank you so much, I'm really grateful!'"
Viewers are currently seeing the build-up to Alicia's departure as she is facing jail for turning violent against Val Pollard.
The story is leading up to a sham wedding storyline for Alicia and David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden).
