Tyler James: 'I'll never drink again'
'The Voice' hopeful Tyler James says he will never drink alcohol again because it left him in a "daze and a blur"
'The Voice's Tyler James will never drink again.
The singing hopeful - who is part of team will.i.am - was a close friend of the late Amy Winehouse and admits he went round in a "daze" while trying to help her with her problems and has now turned his back on alcohol forever.
He said: "When I lost my record deal I just feel apart really. I don't tough drink now. I'm shy and this is the first time I've been on stage sober. When I was drinking I was very depressed - I wanted to block everything out. Amy wasn't well and I wanted to block that out too.
"I took it on my shoulders to look after her because that's what I felt I should do. I just walked around in a daze and a blur. I'd been through it myself - I went to rehab and it's only part of the battle.
"My friends know that I'll never, ever drink again. You'll have to hold a gun to my head and I'd probably let you shoot me."
Now through to the semi-finals of the show, Tyler hopes he will be able to use it as a "platform".
He told OK! magazine: "We know it's a competition and everybody wants to win, but I think we see it as a platform to get our music out there."
