Simon Cowell told Gary Barlow he had to up his game and "find more stars" on 'The X Factor' this year
Simon Cowell told Gary Barlow he had to up his game on 'The X Factor' this year.
The show's boss - who departed the UK version of the show to head up a new US 'X Factor - met with the Take That star to discuss what he has to do this year, and urged him to find "more stars" than he did last year.
Gary said: "We had a big review with Simon about the show and the acts. His thing with me is that he never talks about what you say as a judge, he's always about the acts.
"He says we've got to find more stars, we've got to develop them, we've got to look back at the tapes from last year and see if there are people we've missed.
"It's always about the talent and that's the same reason I'm here, finding talent."
Gary has only done one audition so far this series with Louis Walsh, Tulisa Contostavlos and guest judge Geri Halliwell, but he believes this is the easy part as it is the live stages which can be the breaking of an act.
He said: "It's very interesting, the live shows make or break the acts. They either go downwards very quickly and they spiral out of control or they ascend very quickly."
