Gethin Jones backs Tom Jones for X Factor job
Gethin Jones thinks music mogul Simon Cowell should have chosen Sir Tom Jones to host the US version of 'The X Factor' instead of Steve Jones, who was fired at the end of the first season

Gethin Jones believes Simon Cowell should have appointed Sir Tom Jones on US 'X Factor' instead of Steve Jones.
The Welsh TV presenter thinks the music mogul made the wrong decision when he hired his fellow countryman as host of the US talent show last year, and he believes the singing legend would have been a much better acquisition.
When asked if Simon appointed the wrong Welshman, he said: "He did get the wrong Jones - he should have hired Tom Jones!"
Gethin believes there is a "touch of genius" to all of Simon's shows - which include 'The X Factor', 'Britain's Got Talent' and 'Red or Black' - but the 34-year-old host has never been tempted to ask him for a job.
He explained: "I imagine he's inundated and, if he wants someone, he'll give them a call. I think his shows are brilliant though. There's a touch of genius to all of them."
Gethin once met Simon in a toilet and he revealed the pair shared some "banter" whilst doing their business at the urinals.
He added to new! magazine: "We had some banter as men do. No woman will ever understand that moment."
