'Emmerdale' actress Gaynor Faye almost quit acting for script-writing
'Emmerdale' actress Gaynor Faye almost quit acting.
40-year-old Gaynor said she nearly abandoned her acting career before she landed the part of Megan Macey on ITV1's popular soap.
The former 'Coronation Street' star confessed on 'Loose Women' yesterday (17.05.12): "I was thinking of changing my career - starting writing and getting into the script-editing more.
"I actually script-edited BBC1's 'The Syndicate' and I started thinking that was more for me. I wanted to be at home and see my kids growing up."
Gaynor arrived on 'Emmerdale' in February after 13 years of absence from the soap opera world. She plays feisty businesswoman Megam, half-sister of the Lord Of The Manor, Declan.
She explained: "I remember watching an interview [with] the producers and the cast members on 'This Morning', and just thinking what a great show it was and going, 'Oh, that's Yorkshire!'
"Then I thought nothing more of it, and it all just fell into place, really."
Gaynor also revealed she accepted the role because she lives so close to the soap's studios in Leeds, making it easier to spend time at home with her children.
She said: "It's such bliss to be able to wake up in my own bed."
