Gary Kemp feels "complete as a songwriter" now he has an Ivor Novello award.
The Spandau Ballet guitarist and chief songwriter picked up the Outstanding Song Collection award at yesterday's (17.05.12) awards, and said it was the "greatest achievement" of his career so far.
Speaking at the ceremony, he told BANG Showbiz: "I don't think you feel like a complete songwriter until you have one of these, so it's a long time coming and the trophy will be very well looked after.
"It was a real honour today, I've never had one before. It has made me feel complete as a songwriter."
The band's hits include 'True', 'Gold' and 'Chant, No. 1 (I Don't Need This Pressure On)', but Gary finds it hard to pick one as his favourite.
He added: "'Through the Barricades' is one I'm really close to, but I like them all, I can't choose between my children, as they say. 'True' has been my biggest friend I guess."
The band - which also includes Steve Norman, John Keeble, Tony Hadley and Gary's brother
Martin - last toured in 2009, but Gary admits he doesn't know if they will get back together again.
He said: "I don't know, I heard Tony on TV yesterday saying he didn't think it was going to happen, so maybe it won't I don't know.
"It went really well last time, but even if it does it will be great, but there seems to be a lot of politics steering these five juggernauts into one room. If we can get the band together there will be new material, but that's not easy."
