Jonathan and Charlotte through to BGT final
Opera duo Jonathan Antoine and Charlotte Jaconelli have progressed to the 'Britain's Got Talent' final after topping the public vote and receiving a standing ovation from the judges
Opera duo Jonathan Antoine and Charlotte Jaconelli have progressed to the 'Britain's Got Talent' final.
The singing sensations received a standing ovation from all four judges - Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams - for their stunning rendition of opera classic 'Caruso' last night (07.05.12) and Simon admitted he was wrong to recommend Jonathan ditch Charlotte after their initial audition.
He said: "Refusing to drop Charlotte, that was the best decision you ever made. Now I understand your chemistry, the support...
"Charlotte you sang really, really well. Gutsy. The combination of the two. One of my favourite 'BGT' performances, genuinely."
While Jonathan and Charlotte topped the public vote, Latin dancers Kai and Natalia and 14-year old singer Paige Turley were left to battle it out for the coveted second spot.
With the judges having the final say, David was the only one to save Paige, claiming she had the most potential in the competition.
Meanwhile, finalist Ashleigh Butler fears Simon will kidnap her dancing dog Pudsey and has promised to bring him shopping for his own pooch if he keeps his hands off her beloved pet.
She told The Sun newspaper: "I'm going to have to keep a close eye on Pudsey. Simon can't have him. Pudsey is priceless. I wouldn't mind him going round to Simon's house on visits - that's fine but nothing else. I'd help Simon get his own dancing dog. We could go puppy shopping and I could help train him."
Ashleigh also revealed Pudsey reminds her of David, because he is so camp.
She explained: "Pudsey probably has millions of girlfriends or boyfriends, he's really not fussed. He is so camp and he's such a wimp.
"He's just like David - he and Pudsey would get on brilliantly though I think Simon is in love with Pudsey."
