Giants in the Forest: The natural art project putting sculpture into Scotland's woods
- Year of Creative Scotland
- 9 May 2012
A massive natural art project, undertaken as part of the Year of Creative Scotland
In a country where much of our creativity is inspired by the incredible natural environment around us, what better year to launch our unique project, Giants in the Forest? Looking down on us from tree tops will be massive wicker heads, seeded and suspended in forests around Scotland to change and grow with the seasons. Combining art, technology and the natural environment, this amazing project is calling on you. Talk to us, tell us your journey and how the Giants have inspired you. Post your pictures and unveil your thoughts in the way the 21st century has taught us - via facebook and the website.
The heads will feature in five of Scotland’s forests - Moine MhoÌr National Nature Reserve, Kilmartin; Calgary Art in Nature, Isle of Mull; Galloway Forest, New Galloway; Glentress Forest, Peebles; and Bowhill House and Country Estate, Selkirk - with each forest hosting a series of activities from April to October and culminating in a celebration of the life cycle of the Giants. Will you visit them all?
