The Voice and BGT final to clash
'The Voice' and the final of 'Britain's Got Talent' on May 12 are to overlap my 15 minutes in the schedules
'The Voice' and 'Britain's Got Talent' final are to overlap by 15 minutes.
Schedulers had initially threatened to have a 75 minute clash between the BBC show and the ITV1 programme, but ITV has now agreed to delay the May 12 final of the Simon Cowell-fronted show so it does not begin until 7.30pm - with 'The Voice' finishing at 7.45.
The BBC and ITV have continued to face-off against the shows, with 'The Voice' regularly beating 'BGT' in the ratings until last week.
A BBC insider claimed: "This is a completely avoidable situation. ITV's claims about dirty tricks now look rather disingenuous."
An ITV source retorted to The Metro: "We have to accommodate rather a long family show. The BBC was asked to movie to 6pm but refused."
Meanwhile, Simon Cowell has revealed the next series of the US version of 'X Factor' will hopefully find a new version of British boy band One Direction.
He said: "You're going to suddenly see this year the emergence of boy bands and girl bands taking over the charts.
"We had a group called One Direction who were on the 'X Factor' UK a couple of year ago. Their album launched in America and debuted and number one. It would be great to find the next N*Sync, the next Backstreet Boys, the next Destiny's Child on 'X Factor'. This show has got to feel very different to last year - more controversial."
