Emmerdale to air live for 40th birthday
'Emmerdale' will get a live episode to celebrate its 40th year on television in October.
'Emmerdale' will be broadcast live to celebrate its 40th birthday in October.
The ITV soap - which is set in a fictional village in the Yorkshire Dales - will be going live for the first time in the episode, with series producer Stuart Blackburn confirming a week long celebration of "must see TV featuring two weddings, one of which will be the most unexpected we have ever seen, plus the birth of two babies".
Gaynor Faye, who plays Megan Macey in the on-going drama, has revealed the cast does not yet know who will be taking part.
She told Digital Spy: "None of us actually know whether we're involved or not. I think they're going to try and involve everybody because it's such a celebration and such an achievement to get to the 40th year. So fingers crossed everybody will be involved."
It is not the first time a soap has gone live to celebrate an anniversary - 'Coronation Street' previously did so for its 50th year on television while 'EastEnders' did so for its 25th.
